Major Events Mirror Each Person’s Life

It’s a lovely day in Colorado.  Warm and sunny with lots of people playing and enjoying the outdoors.  As I get closer to finishing the poems for the 10th Anniversary Tribute to 9-11, I realize how so many of the poems describing the tragic events of that day nearly a decade ago mirror each person’s life.  When I re-read the poems they can apply to each one of us at various times in our lives.  The events of that day were horrific and impacted us all, but the day to day pain and sadness that we experience is no less important and at times devastating emotionally.  Why do some people seem to bounce back from tragedy and others take years or even a lifetime?  If we had the formula to help those people in sadness, so many who need healing deep in their hearts could finally move forward and live a more positive life.  That’s why I write poetry.  Somehow I hope to help heal those saddened hearts and uplift human spirit making the world a better place.

Exciting news!  I just received the draft of Speaking Your Truth Volume 2 and had an opportunity to review my chapter “Finding My Gift” one last time.  I’m thrilled to be a part of this book and if it is as good as Volume 1, look forward to some of the most inspirational stories by extraordinary women.  The book will be launched in early August 2011 and I’ll keep you updated on the exact date.  It will be available on Amazon.com.

Nearly have finished preparation on the poetry workshop I will be presenting.  I’m targeting either late July or early August for my 1st workship.  It’s coming together extremely well and I’m confident it will benefit both individuals who have never written a poem and those with more experience.  The process includes 5 steps that can help anyone write a poem.  For those in the Denver Metro Area, I’ll keep you updated as to where and when the workshop will take place.

Well, since I’ll be in Seattle next weekend and I’ll be returning on Independence Day, I’d like to share with you a poem I wrote last July 4th.  I hope you enjoy it and it awakens memories of years past or excites you about the coming weekend.

Until next time, have a glorious time!

Fourth of July

Fourth of July
Fireworks galore
Sight magnificent
Igniting a roar

Brilliant colorful lights
Fill the entire sky
Never have seen
Anything of this kind

Awestruck by beauty
Power of the night
Uplifting experience
Thrilled with delight

Glad to be here
Under the stars
Creating memories
For all my years

Fourth of July
Fireworks galore
Sight magnificent
Igniting a roar
