Lots Happening!

Been awhile and didn’t plan to be out of touch.  Daughter and granddaughter arrived from South Africa and life has been busy.  However, during the past 4 weeks, I decided to write a poetry book as a Tribute to the 10th Anniversary of 9-11.  I’ve been researching on it and have spoken to 2 people recently who were involved either losing a family member or nearby when it happened.  There are people who are still dealing with this tragedy and may never be the same as a result. An event that clearly changed all of us forever.  I’m also researching copyright information on some of the photos I’d like to use.  If anyone has information on this, the process, etc.  Please pass it my way.  At this point I have more than 40 poems and I hope to have close to double that by the end of June.  I’m attaching the first poem I wrote.  It’s amazing how much the U.S. culture has changed as a result of September 11, 2001.  As is the case with all tragedies of this magnitude, those of us who were around at the time, know and remember exactly where we were and what we were doing at the time.  It’s funny how that happens.  I continue to work on Bring Poetry to Kids and Bring Poetry to Spirit and I’m hopeful both will launch during 2011 or early 2012 at the latest.

World Changed Forever

World Changed Forever
That ill fated day
Pain and the horror
Pierced deep to our core

Attitudes and perceptions
Never would be the same
Moved us to high alert
Initially focused on blame

Made an effort to comprehend
Why and how this could happen
Difficult to understand
The magnitude of the loss

Many heroes emerged
From the rubble and destruction
Giving their lives and hearts
To aid so many others

A country in mourning
Feelings  beyond measure
Joined together in strength
Raise our heads high in glory
