Grateful for the Day

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year surrounded by family and friends.  I was honored when my brother-in-law asked me to write a poem for the gathering.  Once the food is set out, we always begin by connecting hands in a circle and have a prayer.  Last year I shared a poem and being asked to do it again made me realize we had a new tradition.  How nice to share Grateful for the Day, which is included at the bottom of this posting.  I can’t believe that in another month my granddaughter will be one.  She is so precious and smart and beautiful.  What an absolute delight in our lives.  She experienced her first Thanksgiving and was dressed as the cutest turkey you’ve ever seen.  Everyone loved it and loved her of course. During the holiday season I always think about those who have had the greatest impact on my life.  Those who are no longer with us and those who I encounter everyday.  I am so appreciative of the people who have made my life so special and so spectacular.  My husband is amazing and truly the love of my life.  I am so grateful to have him by my side supporting me and our relationship.  Of course, there are my sisters and brother.  They are truly gifts in my life; I probably don’t say that often enough to them. Then there is my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter who are each extraordinary people independently, and together as a family they are amazing.  Then there is my extended family and I include my friends in that category.  I feel so blessed to have them as part of my life. I know to count my blessings everyday and be grateful for the wonderful life I live.

I’m happy to announce that Bring Poetry to Spirit is done and will be available soon on Amazon.com. The launch date is Monday, December 12th.  It is a more in depth look at how each of us connects with our spirit and the oneness of the universe.  The book focuses on various levels of spiritual growth and development: Struggle, Insight, Awakening, and Enlightenment. I look forward to comments from my readers about whether their are particular poems that speak to them. My hope is that this book deeply touches your heart, your soul and your spirit.

Until next time, be open to see and count your blessings.  They are all around you every day and every moment.

Grateful for the Day

Grateful for the Day
Blessings that astound
Loved ones all around
Happiness abounds

Think of those faraway
They are still a part
Of this glorious day
Deeply within our hearts

Stand quietly and feel the bond
Silence, peace, and soft energy
Connection between everyone
Power is so profound

Gladly accept what life gives
As we all fully live
Appreciate every moment in time
Know how precious and truly fine

Grateful for the Day
Thanksgiving we celebrate
Pray for all those who are dear
Today and throughout the year
