Thankful

Dear Friends – During the past few months I have found myself to be very busy and took a bit of a respite from writing poetry.  That’s not to say I didn’t write a few poems, but my focus was on other things like our annual women’s retreat (Camp Experience) in Keystone, Colorado,  my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter moving into a new house, and preparation for the birth of our second grandchild toward the end of 2012/beginning of 2013. I’ve found that once poetry starts flowing from your heart and soul, it seems to keep coming and recently it has begun to pour out again. The Holiday Season is upon us with joy, good cheer, and time to spend with family and friends.  Every year we go to my sister’s home for our annual Thanksgiving celebration and I share a poem I’ve written for the day.  This year the poem was titled “Thankful” and I realized that life is much fuller and happier if we are thankful throughout the year.  So although it was inspired by Thanksgiving, it is intended to raise one’s spirit and gratitude every moment of every day.  So just change the last line to “This perfect day” and it will apply to any time and any place. I hope you enjoy it and share it with others. Much love and gratitude for life and it’s many true gifts. Carol

Thankful

Thankful for
Each one of you
Blessings
So deep and true
Generations
Hand in hand
As peace and love
Grows and expands
Holding all that’s
Dear to us
In our hearts
Now and in the past
Glimpse the future
What’s meant to be
Better world
We can see
Thankful
In our special way
Gathered here
Thanksgiving Day
